Where Can I Earn Training Units?
1. Wagner Leadership Institute Courses
These courses are the premier training component provided directly by WLI. While the format will vary according to need, a typical model is a two day course, taught by one or more of the top practitioners in the field. Each two day course will typically provide 14 hours of classroom instruction. These classroom courses are not diploma-specific, meaning that any of the courses can be used for any of the diploma levels. A Self Evaluation Paper (SEP) needs to be written within 90 days for each classroom course and turned in. This self evaluation paper should reflect how the student was transformed by the course rather than focusing on the course content. Self evaluation paper can be submitted via email to enquiry@wagnerleadership.org.my.
2. Wagner Leadership Institute Approved Conferences
Every WLI Student can receive 4 TU's for attending every approved conference of approximately 14 hours. A Self Evaluation Paper (SEP) needs to be written within 90 days for each approved conferences attended of what impartation you received to make you a better worker for the Lord.
3. Reading Books
We encourage all students to read 2 books within a 3 month time period after the approved course or conference. This is optional if a student prefers not to. An additional 2-training unit can be earned for each 360 + pages of material read. There is 1 Training unit given for each normal size book of 180 + pages.
To receive credit for reading, you must complete one reading report form for each book read. You may also make your own reading report forms that contain the information we request. The books that you read must be related to the subject covered in the course and should be fulfilled 90 days after the completion of the course. Please contact us for a suggested reading list. Reading report forms can be submitted via email to enquiry@wagnerleadership.org.my.
4. Self Directed Studies - Recorded courses and other learning events.
Currently WLIM offers only DVDs as self directed studies. This WLIM DVDs will earn the same number of TU's as the live class. Please contact us for a list of our DVD titles. In the near future, self directed studies can include other approved audio CD, videotape, recorded internet courses and live internet classes. To earn the TU's, a regular Self-Evaluation Paper be written within 90 days after the completion of the course and turned in.
5. Special learning projects
Generally 10 hours of study, reading, research and writing is equal to 1 training unit up to a maximum of 10 TU per year. (Please contact our office for approval before you begin the project to make sure it qualifies).
If the goal is to write a book (not a training manual), the following can be earned, but approval before you begin is essential and TU's awarded on a case by case basis. There would also be a maximum number of TU's earned each year.
4 TU's for a book between 25 and 50 manuscript pages
1 TU for each additional 50 manuscript pages
More training units can be earned if the book is published by a major publisher.
To earn the TU's, a regular Self-Evaluation Paper be written within 90 days after the completion of the course and turned in.
6. International Mission Trips
1 training unit for each day of the trip (travel days not included), up to 10 TU's per trip. A maximum amount of trips per year will be accepted according to the courses and conferences taken in the same year.
To earn the TU's for a Mission Trip, a regular Self-Evaluation paper must be turned in along with an itinerary.
7. Life Experience
TUs by way of advanced standing also may be awarded for qualified life experience in ministry on an individual case-by-case basis. Certain age requirements for advanced standing are taken into consideration for individual diploma categories. Please contact us for more information.
Accreditation/Accountability
Academic accreditation is not desired by WLI. We hold membership in the Apostolic Council for Educational Accountability (ACEA), which provides peer-level evaluation on a regular basis through relationships with other educators who share a similar paradigm for ministerial training.
Warning/Disclosure
Because of the non-academic nature of WLI, there should be no expectation that “training units” (they are not “academic credits”) will be recognized for transfer or for any sort of academic standing in traditional academic institutions. Since WLI has chosen to adopt an educational paradigm so different from traditional seminaries and Bible schools, some may not be comfortable with its position. This could mean that in certain ecclesiastical circles, diplomas from WLI may not be recognized as legitimate credentialing for ministry. Before enrolling in WLI, check with your ordaining body to be sure that your diploma will be accepted.
